Kriska was born in Tokyo, raised in Ohio, and currently resides in New York.

About WE-building

Increasing cohesion in a multicultural workplace requires work to overcome cultural differences and improve collaboration. The goal of WE-Building is to facilitate this process by raising awareness and providing tools for self-assessment and action plans. To overcome complex cultural differences, it is necessary to challenge differences that arise from old habits, misconceptions, and many other factors. The WE-building approach allows you to take advantage of cultural diversity and transform it into a more productive environment.

Lectures

Laura Kriska writes about contemporary issues in the United States and Japan and is a frequent speaker at a variety of educational and professional organizations, including the Japan Society of New York, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Columbia University, NYU Stern School of Business, and Ohio State University.

After earning a BA in Japanese Studies from Denison University, she graduated from the School of International Liberal Studies at Waseda University and earned an MA in Writing from Columbia University.

Global Framework

Drawing on her extensive experience in U.S.-Japan relations, she has developed a framework for understanding cultural differences and tested it in a variety of multicultural settings. Her success in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America demonstrates the validity of this framework in any intercultural environment.

The Life of Lola Kriska

Born in Tokyo to missionary parents, Laura Kriska learned the first Japanese words and took her first steps on a tatami mat. At the age of two, her family moved back to Columbus, Ohio, but her interest in Japan continued to grow. While earning a bachelor's degree in Japanese studies from Denison University, she studied abroad at Waseda University in her third year and devoted herself to judo. One week after giving a speech at the graduation ceremony, she was welding parts on an automobile assembly line at the Honda plant in Marysville, Ohio, as part of her training for overseas work. Two months later, she became the first American woman to work at Honda's Tokyo headquarters.
